CFR Assistant Professorship for Sustainable Finance

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Tobias Bauckloh as a new Assistant Professor of Sustainable Finance at the CFR. Dr. Tobias Bauckloh received his PhD on the topic of sustainability in the capital market. His current research focuses, among other things, on the contribution of sustainable investments to solving societal challenges, the impact of sustainability on the financial performance of investments, and the success of voluntary initiatives and regulations to promote sustainability in the investment process.

The Assistant Professorship in Sustainable Finance was newly established at the University of Cologne on the initiative of the CFR. CFR-Juniorprofessor: Call as professor at Bielefeld University

We congratulate the "CFR-Juniorprofessor" Dr. Peter Limbach very warmly on his call as professor at Bielefeld University. Professor Limbach holds the Chair for Corporate Finance and Governance there since mid-May.

 

Allocation of Master Theses

For the last time, applications for master thesis are directly directed towards the chair. Starting October 2020, topics of master theses will be allocated centrally via the Finance Area.

Exam accompanying "Financial Theory"

[18.05.2020]

The exam on "Financial Theory" (Capital Market Theory & Corporate Finance Theory), which was initially planned in March, is now scheduled for June 8th, 15:00 to 17:00. The exam will take place in the rooms of the university here in Cologne (on campus).

You can register for the exam in KLIPS until June 1st

Online Lectures start successively from April 6th, 2020

We ask you to please refer to the information from 20.03.2020 as per the website of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne with respect to information about the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), section "Start der Lehrveranstaltungen im SoSe 2020":

The NRW Ministry of Science has postponed the start of the semester to April 20th 2020 throughout the state. At the same time, it has authorized the universities to conduct digital courses before the newly established start of the lecture period. The WiSo Faculty therefore starts the lecture operation as planned on April 6th 2020 with online teaching formats. This may differ from the regulations of other faculties.

More detailed information about the individual courses can be found in the information in KLIPS and ILIAS. Under "Information" or "other remarks" of the individual courses you will find the corresponding notes. Contact persons are the lecturers listed in KLIPS.

Winner of the Junior Lehrpreis 2019

We congratulate Mario Hendriock on winning this year’s Junior Lehrpreis in the category II, "sessions with more than 50 participants" for the exercise of the lecture "Capital Market Theory".

Similar to the Albertus-Magnus-Prize, which honors the faculty’s professorate, the Junior Lehrpreis is awarded for holding excellent classes in the area of the academic mid-level faculty. Prizes are awarded based on the evaluation results by the Teaching and Studies Commission. The prize in form of a certificate was handed over during the ceremonial act of the exam celebration on July 6th 2019.

CFR Working Paper accepted for presentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Finance Association

The CFR Working Paper No. 18-01 "The Impact of Labor Mobility Restrictions on Managerial Actions: Evidence from the Mutual Fund Industry" by Gjergji Cici, Mario Hendriock and Alexander Kempf was accepted for presentation at the American Finance Association (AFA) meeting in Atlanta, USA. In addition, a AFA Doctoral Student travel grant was deigned to attend the meeting. We are very happy about this success!

CFR Working Paper Accepted for Publication

The CFR Working Paper No. 14-11 "The Investment Value of Mutual Fund Managers’ Experience outside the Financial Sector" by Gjergji Cici, Monika Gehde-Trapp, Marc-André Göricke and Alexander Kempf has been accepted for publication in Review of Financial Studies.

 

Winner of the Albertus-Magnus-Prize 2017

We congratulate Professor Dr. Alexander Kempf on winning this year’s Albertus-Magnus-Prize.

The prize, which is awarded by the faculty’s student body, aims to reflect the appreciation and promotion of outstanding achievements in teaching and for students of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. Graduates of each semester actively participate in the conferral by voting. The prize in form of a trophy, a figurine of Albertus-Magnus, has been handed over during the ceremonial act of the exam celebration on July 1st 2017.
